December 14, 2024 The clouds turned into bubbles floating on the water, and the sun felt so warm on my shoulders. That same voice again. This time sweetly laughing. “I’m ok. It’s beautiful here.” I knew in my heart who it was.
July 22, 2024 I was walking along a pond on a warm spring day. The tall grass housed many hidden critter homes. Tucked in among the foliage, quail eggs jumped out as if calling to me. The eggs jingled with chirping sounds as the spots changed, dancing with each note. I was mesmerized with the joy these tiny eggs shared.
June 21, 2024 He whinnied softly, ears flicking backward and forward. That eye. I felt sure he was trying to say something to me. Did he want an apple? I loved the braid, but maybe he was tired of it hanging near his eye like that. I wonder why we always try to make animals look like us?
May 22, 2024 It was so real I could feel the wind from her beating wings on my face. A state of being unable to wake up and yet consciously seeing through closed eyes. I didn’t want it to end, but when it did her question kept at me. “Are you hiding in your busyness?”
November 24, 2024 I picked up a blanket that was on the ground and started to fold it up. There was this terrible crunching sound, and I felt my fingers being pricked by something. I reflexively threw it back down. Then the tide came in and rolled the blanket, which had a picture of a nest on it, over a real nest. I looked to see if there were any birds in the nest, but there weren’t any.
November 29, 2024 She started her morning walk along the sand dunes by the sea. A slight wind began to stir, and the sea grass danced back and forth with the wind. Her walk, a meditation, the waves keeping her mind focused with their rhythmic sound. A thought… a disruption… unease began… blocked her peace. The wind aroused with might, clouds increased, her disturbance was anxiety. She said, “Let it go, let it go. I am at peace, I am peace.”
May 24, 2025 I looked twice, but it wasn’t a reflection. There were two ducks swimming perfectly in sync. Occasional bubbles from the duck underneath the water. The top duck would open its mouth and sing Jive Talking. Tail feathers swishing back and forth to the rhythm.
September 30, 2024 Everyone kept passing these glasses around. They were so excited about it. “Here try!” I put them on. Saw nothing. “What are you looking at?” That didn’t seem to matter. They just kept exclaiming how great the new binoculars were. But they weren’t binoculars. They were a pair of old glasses. I couldn’t convince them. No matter how hard I tried. No matter what argument or description of the difference between glasses and binoculars was. I woke up with a headache.
September 10, 2024 “There’s too much noise!”, cried the wicked witch of thunder. “I’ve told you boys to stop racing through my land and disturbing my realm!” The boys just laughed and revved up their engines even more. They spun their cars and drove over the land and hills along dirt roads, creating such a mess. Soon the sky darkened, the air chilled and the wicked witch enveloped the sky. ”I’ll teach you boys, once and for all!” echoed through the realm as lightening bolts shot out of her hands across the sky chasing the cars everywhere they went. Suddenly there was quiet.
August 11, 2024 I was stacking bales of hay onto a truck when these pharaoh faces emerged. I woke up in a sweat with the words “Beware the Eye of Ra” stuck in my head.
April 2, 2024 Dreams born in the soul Bubble up through the heart To swim in two paths. Both need water. Let it flow. Flow. Flow. In the rivers of wanting. Disappearing in the depths Reappearing in the shallows. Sun sparkling off the back of consciousness. The lapping sounds of the subconscious in the twilight.
February 21, 2025 On a carpet he rides through the night sky. The swan flies through the wind into the stars above. The carpet pivots and swerves, delight fills him with laughter.
March 17, 2025 Storm clouds and flying eggs were being driven across the sky by a cool wind. The eggs were broken open, newly hatched. The quail went flying off so fast. I couldn’t see them, but I could hear that distinctive call.
May 3, 2024 Down, down, down…. Darkness surrounds Feel long arms trying to grab me and pull me down, down, down I look up, Sun sparkles, water ripples and birds float above Free from the grips of darkness
December 2, 2024 I was sitting cross legged, meditating on a cloud. All was quiet, the air was clean and crisp. In the distance the sound began, first as a soft gentle call until a cacophony of noise filled my mind. Canadian geese!? My third eye chakra began to pulsate, and the geese flew away.
March 6, 2025 The forest was dark and thick with trees and fauna. She could feel the living breath of the forest surrounding her as she walked along the thickets. Branches reached over her creating a tunnel, calling her forward. Suddenly, a large tree appeared around the curved path. Yellow and red leaves began to grow outward through the bark at a remarkable speed. She jumped back in surprise to this magical event, laughing at herself. She awoke with a smile.
February 6, 2025 I was walking the beach. The clouds were heavy with rain. Not sure if it was East Coast or West. The weird thing was that Brittle Bush was growing everywhere so I thought that I must be home in Arizona. High tide was coming in, washing up and over my feet. Frigid cold. I thought I’d cover myself in the sand to keep warm. All I could do was shimmy into it. My hands were gone. And my feet too for that matter. I had wings instead.
July 28, 2025 Dreams. Sometimes you matte them and frame them so sure of their value underneath the clear glazing of hope.
February 19, 2024 “I just don’t understand modern art,” he said to her. “To me, a second grader could do this. Just splatter paint all over the place and charge a million bucks. I don’t get it.” “Look at the movement, the colors how they work together, and you can feel the energy of the artist working so intently,” she stated. “Feel it, just relax and see how you feel with the piece.” “That weird whale eye is giving me the creeps, I’m out of here,” and he moved to the next room. I bolted up in bed and thought, that whale eye is really, weird.
August 30, 2024 The kestrel flew right over my head with a screech! I ducked under a mesquite fearing another fly by. The heat made me feel dizzy, and the agave began to spin all around me. Monsoon winds swirled through me, and I transformed into a kestrel flying and gliding with the wind currents. Screech! And we played.
January 15, 2025 I was floating in the night sky, stars twinkling around me. Suddenly a swirl of star dust carried me into space, planets swirling around me encircling me in colors of the rainbow. My hand reached out and held the universe in my palm.

October 13, 2024 “What are you?” Chirped the sparrow. “Who are you?” Replied the limpets. “I’m a sparrow and I fly through the air,” he chirped. “We are limpets, and we live on rocks eating algae. We love the ocean and tides,” said the limpets. The sparrow sang a sweet song to the limpets to gently put them to sleep as the tide rolled in.
June 27, 2025 A Great Horned Owl was swimming around in a lake. It felt like Seneca Lake where we used to visit my Aunt Garnet when I was a kid. Then this hummingbird told the owl it didn’t know how to swim and asked if it could ride on the owl’s head around the lake.
January 1, 2024 He was running all over the farm trying to catch the chickens while I was opening pens to let them out. I could hear a voice yelling at me to stop. I grabbed a big rooster under one arm and a hen under the other. The three of us flew up over the barn. He turned into a plane then. The hen and I watched him fly through the sky until we couldn’t see him anymore.
March 11, 2025 ”Look mom! I filled the jar with the desert. I got rocks, sticks, dead cactus, bones and sand.” “Where did the heron come from, sweetie?” “Oh, that’s Harriet, she just lives there.”
September 26, 2024 Her hand came up through the lake. Not sure if she was trying to open the gate or reaching to hold onto it. Then I realized it was me in the water.
Dreamscapes & Spaces Between is a collaborative body of work by Cyd Peroni and Nancy Miiller that uses the metaphor of dreams to explore the conscious and the unconscious, the real and the imagined, the certain and the maybe, the controllable and serendipitous.
The pair work side-by-side blending their individual photographs, hearts and minds to create one unified image. Through distortion and photographic layering techniques, they use familiar elements like water, the human body, plants, and animals as entry points into hidden meanings, questions about accepted norms, and how perceived reality may affect our view of the world.
The video is from their solo exhibition at Gallery 4 at HD South. Dream diary journal entries are part of each image.
